Rust – Back For A Week

image

I have been playing CS:GO the past few weeks most nights trying to complete Bloodhound Missions and get my rank up a little. Unfortunately I have been doing bad at both, I took a break from Rust and two updates later I’m starting again on a server that will be wiped in a few days. If your wondering if it’s worth doing it is, most people have left until after the wipe, sour as it means you lose everything but your crafting skills. I joined my companion from the last server as the new one has a better ping and is less populated then the last. We haven’t met up yet as we are both collecting and learning Blueprints ready for the wipe. I haven’t played for a few weeks but it’s still as good as ever. I have a small shack with the equipment I need to loot and stay alive. The one thing I thought I was missing was rocks, but last night I found when following a road, I got lead to a lot of rock spawns and after every day cycle they would respawn in the same area.

Looks like I will have a good time for the next few days unless CS:GO pulls me in again.

Rust – The New Evil

image

So I haven’t been on Rust for a few days and decided to go on and finish my Base upgrade. Unfortunately someone else had a better idea. They broke into my Base authorised themselves and filled every inch with stone half blocks, meaning the Base should have been useless. Fortunately I came on at the right time and receive enough help to fix the bottom floor of my Base meaning I could finally live in it again. Next job is too rescue the second floor and the third and then start the upgrade process. I would say it’s enjoyable but 3 hours just to clear the ground floor isn’t a survival experience. This game is becoming what DayZ turned into, a survival game turned into a Kill on site mess whith hackers doing as they please. You still see the VAC ban warnings popping up but you know hackers are still around.

The new evil is the Base block technique, which means bases are raided just to break and authorised so they can build around it meaning they gain the majority hold on the map area.

Rust – Raided Again

image

Well I would like to say I haven’t been raided again since last time but unfortunately I can’t. I have had a stone Base for almost a week now and not once has it been touched. I upgraded to the armoured walls and instantly raided, they took everything worth having. They did leave me alive and with a rock so I decided to fix the hole they made and go for a look around before work today. Found a few blueprints, nothing to scream about, some tools and weapons but unfortunately I was so far away from my Base I had no choice but to hide and logout (had to leave for work). I’m expecting to be killed when I log in tonight but I know where the place is so should be able to get back as it has a lot of Steel drums for blueprints and loot.

Rust – Continuing On

image

Well I’ve been trying to get into Rust and as I said a few posts ago it’s got its problems. I logged out for the night and returned to an empty Base, I mean empty, they even took the clothes off my back. I was left with nothing, my bed had been destroyed and I had no resources. I was fortunate to still have my hidden key to get back into my Base, they had taken my old key, hours of searching and I had enough to make tools and repairs to my Base. I got some clothes and managed to fix my Base so It was a little safe. Again bad luck struck a group on the server known as the AK death squad came knocking, again I lost most of my stuff. Fortunately I found a  comrade who also lost his Base, he helped me get my Base going again and safely we have a more secure Base. We have some resources, we decided the best thing to do is to craft what we need while we loot. And hope not to get raided again.

I’m going to give Rust a little more time before writing it off totally, I have had to rebuild my Base twice in a day. This is a survival game and the server is owned by the person with the most guns. I know you shouldn’t get too upset with these kinds of games, but hours/days of work lost in minutes isn’t fun. If it doesn’t change I’ll probably come back to it in the future but as it stands now this game isn’t worth the time. I often say don’t get attached to loot and items in games like this but it’s hard when hours at a time you lose it all.

Rust – Better Or Worse?

13_1428755059

Its been some time since I last played Rust and the latest update has teased me back into trying it again.

Within 2 mins of spawning I froze to death, another 15 minutes of looking for food and I got shot, this is the trend I remember for the last time I played. It’s another survival game which everyone just Kills on sight meaning you spend a good few spawns before you actually start getting anywhere.

After 2 hours of the same thing over and over I soon found myself spawning next to a stream with a few houses and animals galore. This is where I spent another two hours making my Base, the new UI makes Base building a easy task, the guys around here talk and help each other I even got offered a key to someone’s Base. This is more like what survival should be like, hunting and gathering is easy when your not running for your life.

Unfortunately hours after starting this post the area I thought was safe was over run with more enemies then friends and my base I spent hours building and filling is now gone with all of my resources. What this game needs is AI for these kill on sight guys to go after rather then every new spawn or player that is just trying to survive.

If you played Rust earlier and enjoyed it then I guarantee you will love the latest update. There is still flaws in the game but these can be over looked if you find the right people and places on a server. You will die and you will lose hours/days of work, its a survival game you have to not grow attached to anything.
